THE BOLD + THE BREATHLESS
A downloadable game
BE BOLD
Remember, as a kid, when you took action figures and clashed them together, shouting things like “laser rocket fist!” and “giga-shield?”
That’s what this is.
The Bold + Breathless is a board game without a board - a way to have your action figures engage in create fun, tactical scenarios - battle, sports, chase scenes - anything you can imagine. These base rules - 40 pages of Stunts, Items, Foes, and Bosses, with all the bits and bobs to make any setting a tactical triumph - are compatible with Fari RPG’s Breathless system, but can be used to create scenarios on its own or with other systems.
I WANT TO MAKE THIS GAME BIGGER (it can't get better).
I would like to create Character Sheets, Foes, Stunts, and Items for the following settings:
- Fantasy: Crossbows, Fireballs, and Ferocious Foes
- Superheroes: Laser Eyes, Super Strength, and Wicked Villans
- Space Opera: All the tech you can shake a beamsaber at
- MECHA SPORTS: Cause what's better than mecha? MECHA PLAYING BALL!
If I can raise the money to support it, I will. So - buy it, yeah?
WHY NOT JUST DND?
If you're playing it and loving it, do you. But if you've tried to set up a DnD game and felt like you wanted to get paid for your part time job, The Bold + Breathless is:
- FAST: Play in 20. Battles take 20.
- TACTICAL: All the drama with none of the boredom - you'll roll even when it's not your turn, and face loaded decisions.
- EASY: The MC (GM, if you must) doesn't roll - players do.
So sure, if you want the stress and strain, play DnD.
But got some newbies need a quick dip in the board game bliss of RPG tactics?
THE BOLD + THE BREATHLESS.

Can you help me understand more about how Re/Act and Act work on the enemy card? What's the difference? Why 2 numbers? I may just be missing where this is explained.
Sorry for the confusion! I need to include an explanation - it's a quick shorthand for "Reaction" and "Actions." The first number is when the foe acts within the initiative order; the second is how many actions it can take (2 for a Move/Attack, double Attack, etc.).
Let me know if this helps clarify? And would LOVE to keep hearing your thoughts or questions
This system is absolutely stellar! Both Players and MCs feel like they're given plenty of tactical decisions while not slowing down the pace! ((And I especially love how bosses are broken down into "parts"))
YASSSS!
THANK YOU! I love the bosses - have SO many more I'd like to stat out! I have superheroic ones (juggernaut left arm, right arm, core torso!), scifi ones (tentacles x4, core brain), and fantasy ones (claws x2, bite, core werewolf torso). SO MANY Items and Stunts I'd like to try! Fantasy with Sneak (+1 to Get Physical to sneak in Adventure; Backstab - roll 1d10 Attack when adjacent and target has an ally directly opposite), scifi with Mecha (Gravity Beam - Attack to Pull 1d6 spaces) ...
... really, REALLY want to find funding and energy to put this into a serious form.
Did I mention Character Cards with Action and Adventure on opposite sides, then Stunts, Items, etc. as extra cards?
THANK YOU for your support! If you dig this, would LOVE to see it gain traction!
